3 Frozen Drink Recipes to Help You Chill Out on a Hot Day
June 18, 2019
With the warmer weather here to stay, now is the perfect time to throw open your windows, enjoy the sunshine, and sip on a cocktail (or mocktail). Invite a few friends over for happy hour and make one of these frozen drink recipes, all of which can easily be made without the alcohol.
Frozen Watermelon Slush [Country Living]
This first recipe doesn’t actually contain any alcohol, but you can feel free to add an optional splash of vodka or another favorite spirit. To make the base, blend fresh watermelon and frozen strawberries with some lemon sorbet and splashes of pineapple and lime juices. The result is a sweet, all-natural slushy perfect for a hot day.
Blood Orange–Champagne Ice Cream Float [Epicurious]
If you have some champagne left over from a celebration, don’t let it go to waste! Whip up this grown-up version of an ice cream float, which is actually comparable to a mimosa. Just combine the champagne or sparkling wine (or a non-alcoholic sparkling cider) with blood orange sorbet, soda water, Campari, vermouth, and sugar. Stir and garnish with a fresh slice of orange!
Frozen Peach Old Fashioned [MyRecipes]
Even if you’re not typically a fan of whiskey, the sweet flavor of peaches might be enough to offset the notoriously bold spirit in this frosty beverage. Blend a couple of cups of frozen peaches with the bourbon, peach nectar, and peach sorbet to create a super-sweet base for your frozen cocktail, then add orange bitters, a dash of salt, and some sugar. You can use fresh mint or peach slices as garnish.
