How to Host an Unforgettable New Year’s Eve Party
December 26, 2019
The fireworks, the drinks, the celebratory ambiance—what’s not to love about New Year’s Eve? If your idea of the perfect Dec. 31 includes all of the above—but not the uncomfortable formalwear and too-crowded bar scene—then consider hosting your own party on New Year’s Eve! Here are a few tips to help you host a party that your guests won’t soon forget.
Choose a theme. Every great party needs a theme! Pick a theme like “Roaring ‘20s” to create an atmosphere that’s swanky and stylish, or keep things more low-key with a “Cozy Pajama” theme. You could keep things more traditional with by hosting a cookie or pie swap. Just be sure to print the details on the invite so that your guests have ample notice!
Create a drinks station. Designate one area of your home for drinks, whether it’s a bar cart or an area in your kitchen. Stock the station with fizzy drinks, ample mixers, and festive accessories like swizzle sticks. Keep your designated drivers in mind by including plenty of non-alcoholic refreshments.
Design a statement wall. Instead of agonizing over detailed decor, create one big statement by decorating an entire wall in your home. Adorn a wall in floor-to-ceiling metallic balloons or swath it in tinsel garland to create the ultimate backdrop for selfies. Don’t forget to think of a customized hashtag for social media!
