How to Make Your New Year’s Resolutions a Reality in 2020
January 3, 2020
Anyone can make a New Year’s resolution, but it takes someone with grit and determination to actually make their goals a reality. Some strategy and planning comes in handy, too! Here are a few tips to help you stick with your resolutions for 2020, whether you’ve resolved to pad a savings account, drink more water, or something else altogether.
Enlist a friend. Recruit a friend or coworker to join you in your journey to your goal. By buddying up, you’ll have someone holding you accountable and depending on you for companionship and moral support. In the end, you’ll be less likely to throw in the towel.
Take baby steps. Break your resolution down into smaller, more attainable goals so that your resolution becomes a little less daunting. For instance, if you’ve resolved to run a 10K this year, but it’s been awhile since you last laced up your running shoes, set out to simply take daily walks for the first month or so. These smaller successes will help keep you motivated, especially as you see your endurance and stamina slowly improve.
Make a realistic goal. Don’t set yourself up for failure by aiming for a too-ambitious goal. Remember that personal and professional successes don’t happen overnight; they require an investment of time, patience, and more importantly, perseverance.
