How to Host the Ultimate At-Home Date Night

July 10, 2020

Spending so much time at home with your significant other might make you think every night is date night, but just because you’re together doesn’t mean you’re really connecting. In order to do that, it’s important to set aside time to specifically be together. Plan a special date night to let your SO know you care! Here are a few ideas.

  1. Set up a wine or beer tasting. If you and your paramour love tasting new types of booze, bring the winery or taproom to your apartment. Look for local breweries or wineries that are offering takeout options and build a six-pack of craft beer or pick up a few bottles of fine vino. Then create a beautiful tasting lineup with your fanciest glasses—and don’t forget cheese or other snacks to go along with the booze.
  2. Host your own cooking class or let a local restaurant do the heavy lifting. If you and your sweetheart love to watch cooking competitions, date night is your chance to get in on the action! Look up a new recipe and try it together, or make things even easier and order all of the ingredients from a delivery service like HelloFresh. If you’re not really into the idea of cooking, order a meal from your favorite restaurant and enjoy it by candlelight.
  3. See a standup show. It’s probably been a while since you saw your favorite comedian live—and obviously they’re not going to come do a private show in your living room. But you can still enjoy some laughs by recreating the experience. Find a comedy special on Netflix or HBO starring the funniest person in the circuit right now and gather together snacks and drinks, just like the kind you’d enjoy at the theater. Then press play.
  4. Do breakfast in bed. Date night doesn’t have to be in the evening at all. If it works better to spend some time together in the morning, plan breakfast in bed instead. Get up bright and early to whip up some eggs and bacon or make a stack of fluffy pancakes for your partner, then enjoy them together in a cozy setting.
