How to Incorporate Pantone’s New Colors of the Year Into Your Decor
January 8, 2021
In case you missed it, Pantone decided to select not one, but two Colors of the Year for 2021. It was an unusual move that marked the end of an exceptionally unusual year. Both hues—a soothing gray and a mood-boosting yellow—were selected for their ability to make staying at home a happier experience. Here are a few ways to incorporate them into your space in 2021.
- Revamp your throw pillows. No matter the shade of your sofa, a neutral gray throw pillow will probably complement it. And you don’t have to buy new pillows to get the look—just order a few new pillow covers. Go cozy and chic with this soft knitted pillow cover from Joss & Main or opt for a more affordable option from Bed, Bath & Beyond made out of faux linen. The latter will transition from winter to spring to summer seamlessly.
- Try temporary wallpaper. Have you experimented with peel-and-stick wallpaper yet? It’s a renter-friendly way to add a big dose of personality to your space. Websites like Etsy and Wayfair have countless options. This playful triangle-print wallpaper would be perfect for a children’s play area or a reading nook, while this bold floral wallpaper would make for a stylish statement wall in your home office. Both can be easily applied and removed at any time.
- Hang new curtains. Is there anything more soothing than soft winter light filtering through a set of gauzy curtains? Not with a pair of curtains like these, which feature a gray layer of fabric beneath a cascade of stylish tulle. Of course, if you’d rather have curtains that keep the sun out so you can sleep in, these gray light-blocking panels are the more prudent option.
