How to Tackle Your Spring Cleaning Checklist
March 30, 2021
Springtime is about more than just blooming flowers and warm sunshine—it’s also a time to reevaluate your living space so that you can start the spring on a reenergized, reinvigorated note. Here are a few tips to help you tackle your spring cleaning to-do list so that your apartment is in tip-top shape for the season.
- Assemble your supplies. There’s nothing worse than diving into your spring cleaning tasks only to find that you don’t have the necessary materials. Before starting your project, jot down a list of supplies that you’ll need to finish the job—think cleaning solutions, rubber gloves, sponges, rags, and trash bags. If you’ll be reorganizing and de-cluttering, make sure you have storage bins and baskets handy. While you’re at it, throw away any expired cleaning products.
- Compile a tool kit. After assembling your supplies, organize them into a bucket or bin so that you can easily carry them from room to room. After you’ve finished your cleaning, place supplies throughout your home to make it easier to stay on top of cleaning in the future. Stow one bucket or bin under your bathroom sink, another under the kitchen sink, and so on.
- Go room by room. Don’t try to tackle your entire to-do list in a single weekend. Instead, break the job down into smaller, more manageable tasks. You could clean room by room, for example, or work toward a single goal, like cleaning out the fridge or overhauling your closets.
