How to Stay Productive When Working From Home
July 16, 2021
If you’ve only started working from home in the past year and a half, you might still be getting the hang of it. Here are a few tips from the work-from-home pros that will help you stay productive.
- Create a distinct workspace. Working-from-bed or working-from-couch rarely delivers the best productivity. Even if you have a small space, make an effort to set aside a separate area for work—a designated corner of the dining room table or desk in the guest room will do. This physical boundary will make it easier to keep mental boundaries in place between work life and home life.
- Stick to a schedule (including breaks). Working from home may afford you more flexibility with your schedule, which is an obvious perk! That being said, it’s not healthy to work at all hours of the night, and you’re never going to get into a good rhythm if you head out to run an errand every few hours. Instead, stick to your traditional business hours, including lunch and stretch breaks.
- Get dressed. It’s going to be really tempting to roll out of bed and stay in your PJs if you don’t have any Zoom meetings scheduled. Fight that urge. Try to keep with the same kind of wake-up routine you had when going into the office, including getting showered and dressed. You’ll feel ready to tackle your day and remain more productive throughout.
