How to Reorganize Your Closet for Fall
September 24, 2021
If you’re loving this cooler fall weather, you’ve probably already started dipping into your stash of soft sweaters. Make sure your closet is as ready for the season as you are! Follow these steps to organize it for fall.
- Start by sorting. Before you start hastily pulling your tanks and tees from their hangers, take some time to decide if you want to keep them for next year. Make a donation pile, and then neatly pack away the “keep” pile in bins to slide underneath your bed. Then you’ll have plenty of space to fill up with oversized sweaters and cardigans.
- Fold and separate as much as possible. As you start to get your autumn wardrobe in order, you might find you need a few more tools. Bins and shelf separators are a great way to keep folded items in place, such as heavy sweaters that won’t wrinkle easily or cozy sweatshirts. You’ll probably find that folding jeans and tops will save you space elsewhere in the closet, so prioritize folding when you can.
- Pay special attention to your fall shoe collection. Your footwear is an important part of your cold-weather apparel, so give it a place of prominence in your closet. Bulkier boots might call for the addition of bins or a shoe rack, depending on whether you tend to haphazardly kick off your shoes at the end of the day or neatly remove them when you get home.
