Stay Active This Winter With a Visit to the Patuxent Research Refuge
January 4, 2018
Forests, wetlands, and grassy meadows. Beavers, deer, and great blue heron. Hiking, fishing, and photo ops. These are a few of the things that await you when you visit the Patuxent Research Refuge. As you step into the New Year, if one of your resolutions involves getting more active, then a trip to the refuge might just be in store.
Although its name refers to the role it plays in the lives of furry critters, the refuge also serves as a safe haven for hikers who need a few minutes away from the noise of the real world. On a wintry day in Laurel, traipse through snow-dusted forests and along frost-bitten shorelines. When the warmer weather comes, hike through colorful meadows of wildflowers and enjoy some bird-watching along the way.
