According to USA Today, there’s only one event that earns the honor of the Best Cultural Festival in the Country, and it’s the Water Lantern Festival. Since you’re lucky enough to have an installment the nation’s top-rated fest unfold practically in your backyard, don’t miss your chance to be part of the fun this year.
Make the 30-minute drive to San Leandro’s Marina Park to enjoy the twilit festival on Saturday, September 14th. The festival begins at 4:30 p.m. when you can start to decorate your paper lantern. You’re welcome to embellish it however you like, but most people choose to inscribe their lanterns with messages of hope and love. Lanterns will set sail out across the water around dusk, which allows you plenty of time to explore everything else the festival has to offer. This includes hot food, fun games, local vendors, and live music.
