Lace Up Your Sneakers for a Good Cause During the Oakland Turkey Trot 5K
November 2, 2018
Thanksgiving isn’t just a day to give thanks, it’s also a day to give back. So before you gather around a table decorated with your own Thanksgiving feast, ensure that everyone in your community has the same opportunity by taking part in the Oakland Turkey Trot 5K. The run on Thanksgiving morning contributes to many local charities, including the Alameda County Community Food Bank, which provides millions of meals every year.
This year’s new course loops around Lake Merritt, starting at the pergola. Register online ($45), check in around 7 a.m. to grab your locally made race t-shirt, and meet with your fellow runners at the starting line on Thanksgiving morning by 8:20 a.m. for the opening ceremony. Ten minutes later, the starting shot will sound. Run or walk at your own pace around the lake toward the finish line, where you can stick around to enjoy some live music after the race.
