Enjoy Some Retail Therapy at Berkeley’s Fourth Street Shops
March 1, 2019
Fourth Street Shops may be a thriving hub of the community today, but it was actually born out of a failed business venture in the ‘60s. In an attempt to revitalize Berkeley’s economy, the city broke ground on a new industrial park decades ago. However, businesses failed to fill the storefronts, and it was essentially abandoned for more than a decade except for a few small businesses. However, when a local design firm got involved in the ‘80s, businesses slowly but surely got on board.
Today, the neighborhood that houses Fourth Street Shops is a vibrant one. It plays host to stores that sell home decor, tout the latest fashions, and dish out hot, fresh food. Whether you’re looking for something specific or just want to do a bit of browsing, the Fourth Street Shops can accommodate you.
