Cleaning Tips for a Spring-Ready Apartment

February 28, 2020

If you’re already looking forward to spring, then you might be thinking about spring cleaning, too. Make refreshing your home stress-free and easy by following these simple tips.

  1. Start by decluttering. Before you break out the vacuum, make sure your space is ready for a deep clean. That means getting rid of everything you don’t use on a regular basis. From your closet to your kitchen, carefully evaluate your belongings and decide which ones might be dispensable.
  2. Take it one room at a time. If the idea of decluttering and then cleaning sounds overwhelming, take a breath. You don’t have to do everything at once. Instead, choose one room to tackle and take a few hours to do it. Then set aside some more time later in the week to work on another area. Move through your home room by room to do a thorough job without getting burned out—it’s okay if spring cleaning takes a few weeks!
  3. Employ helpful hacks. For hard-to-clean spots in the home, turn to the internet for some inspiration. For instance, to clean the microwave, add a cup of water and a few tablespoons of vinegar to a bowl, then microwave it until the front of your microwave fogs up (it should take a few minutes). Then it should be easy to wipe the microwave clean.
  4. Don’t forget out-of-sight areas. Just because you can’t see the inside of your trash cans or the interior of your fridge doesn’t mean they don’t deserve some attention! Take this opportunity to thoroughly wash your trash cans, wipe up any spills in your fridge, and spruce up any other neglected spaces in your apartment.
